Barbara's Prairie Points

Barbara pieced this quilt for me to quilt, in the hopes on it getting juried into the 2019 Shipshewana, Indiana Quilt Show.  And it was.  YIPEE.  It's 84 x 84.

She requested double batting to make the inner star pop, so I used wool over 80/20.  It is all custom quilted, using monopoly thread to first stitch-in-the-ditch to hold it all stable.  Then I used 5 different thread combinations for the quilting.  She wanted dense quilting in the background areas so make the star and point pop.

Pebbles in the green fabric - which had little circles in it, so the pebbles match the fabric

Swirls and an occasional pebble in the cream background

I  used a variety of quilting designs in the rest of the quilt:

wiggly lines in the center spikes:

a small meander in the center background areas:

quarter inch outline in the border spikes:

loops in the black flying geese:

and hooks that travel through the center diamonds:

the backing and binding are the same as the border spikes.
