This was pieced by a member of my Quilt of Valor group. I love the pattern - in fact I drafted it so I can use it myself. But I would change the blue centers to gold so they would stand out better, and piece the half blocks at the top and bottom to carry the pattern, . It's 54 x 71.
I used taupe thread and quilted a pantograph that has stars and swirls:
I had the backing on hand - it was a perfect match:
