Charity Panel

This panel was a donation years ago, as was the backing fabric.  I finally had a chance to put it together.  It's 34 x 45

There are several blocks that represent traditional patterns:

I quilted using a variegated thread, and did a loopy pattern:

I love the bright backing:

Treasury

I was treasurer of the String A-Long Quilt Guild.  Our signature block was the string block.  When an officer resigned, her friends/members made a block for her with thanks or good wishes in the center strip.  I quilted it with a variegated tread in a pattern with different graphics.  This is 47 x 59.

Sample blocks:

Someone forgot to sign their name  :)

I needed one more block for the setting, so I embroidered the dates I was in office.

I used a batik for the setting triangles:

Rag Quilt

I had lots of leftover solids and a floral print, so I combined them to make a rag quilt for charity.  The squares finish at approx 6", so this is 60 x 72.

I kept all the seam allowances on one side, so the other side is "rag free"

Spooky

I had some old Halloween fabrics in my stash, and bought a few more to make this quilt.  The pattern called for another row across the bottom to finish the pattern, but I want to use it as a wall hanging and it would have been too long.  It's 56x73.

I did a lot of custom quilting and changed thread colors to match:

curly -Q's in the green and purple triangles

I put spiders with crystal eyes in 6 of the green triangles

connecting curves and X's in the checkerboard areas and smaller triangles

I used lots of leftover fabrics and parts of the extra blocks in the back:

SEA TURTLE

This is a collage quilt pattern by Laura Heine.  New sewing involved except for the quilting.  It's 45x64.  After the pattern is traced onto a very thin paper, fabrics are fused on to create the image.  I bought lots of different fabrics to add all the images around the turtle.  It got a second place award in my quilt guild's show in February.  I quilted it using a pantograph with fish and waves.

I used lighter background fabrics at the top to add depth to the overall picture

The committee did a fabulous job on the ribbons

close up of turtle

detail of head and eyes

baby turtle with air bubbles

cone flowers

coral on rock ledge

lobster and crabs

mermaids with sharks ready to attack

rock ledge with shells

whale and coral and shells

sea horse and coral

Seaweed

I quilted it using a pantograph with fish and waves.  If you look closely you can see the fish here:

I found a perfect backing fabric - More turtles !!
