Martha pieced this top to give to her brother and his wife.
Their initials are in the center of the quilt.  It's 89 x 89

I quilted a simple all over pattern with flowers and leaves to go with the fabric.

The initials are iron-on, so I had to stitch through them so they would stay:

The focal fabric has pink flowers.  

There is a metallic fabric, as well as the green and blue

Quilt of Valor

This top was pieced by Bonnie in Ohio, then sent to me for quilting.  It's 65 x 84.  It is a Quilt of Valor and will be presented to someone in the miltary.

I used a red/white/blue variegated thread that shows off the great patriotic fabrics:

I quilted stars in the center of the "circles"

There are hooks and line dancing in the 4-patches, 

and in the smaller cream squares where the circles come together

The larger border has a meander as nothing else would show

the narrow border has diagonal lines

I like where the corner pieces come together with the narrow border

The backing is a tone on tone cream

Kathy's Drunkard's Path

Kathy pieced this quilt with tons of different fabrics.  It's bright and colorful, 

and her work is always amazing.  It's 80 x 97.

I quilted a loopy design in the colored path, and lots of feathers in the cream path.

I love how the feathers look floppy as they fill in the odd shaped areas

It all comes together beautifully in the center, and at the points where the patterns changes direction:

Wendy's Quilt of Valor

Wendy pieced this top, and then sent it to me for quilting.  It's 63 x 84.  It will be donated to a veteran through the Quilt of Valor program.

I quilted a flag panto.  There is one star, and wavy lines to create the flag:

The backing is a cream with a blue design:

Guild Quilt of Valor

5 of us from our guild pieced this top.  It will hang on display at the 2016 Shipshewana, Indiana Quilt Show.  We will be doing demonstrations of string blocks, and this quilt will be our backdrop.  Thanks to Amy, Flo, Pat, Darlene and myself for construction help.  It's 53 x 70.  The binding has been applied, and Flo will hand stitch it to the back.

It was a kit, and included pre-printed patriotic saying to put in the black frames:

I did simple quilting around the blocks, and some ruler work in the black frames:

We used 5 of the pre-printed pieces,  and left the other areas blank for quilting. 

 I used a gold thread to write patriotic words in those areas:

The star blocks got some line dancing, with stars in the center:

I used a star and wiggly lines in the flag blocks:

More stars in the border:

The backing is a plain blue:

(It matches the blue on the front - not purple like what shows here)

Kathy's pink and brown quilt

Kathy love's Civil War reproduction fabrics, and made this beautiful pink & brown top.  There are tons of different fabrics, and such little pieces.  Her work is a joy to quilt - flat and square and so easy to work with.  This quilt is 59 x 71.

So many different fabrics for all the blocks.  Each section finishes at 1.5"   I did line dancing throughout the block, with a straight line to travel from one block to the next:

There is ruler work in the brown and pink triangle blocks.  The curved section at each end help prevent back-tracking.  That doesn't work with the variegated thread that we chose.

The backing carries the same colors:

Barb's Quilt of Valor

Barb made this Quilt of Valor to give to a retiring co-worker.  How nice is that !  There are assorted combinations of stars set on-point, with a great striped fabric as sashings and border.  It's 60 x 79.

I quilted a star in the center of each block, with line dancing in the surrounding areas:

 I quilted a wiggly line through the middle blue stripe, and left the rest as is.  I didn't want to take away from that great fabric.

A simple meander was enough for the setting triangles

I alternated 4" and 5" stars in the larger border

The backing fabric has eagles all over.  Look closely and you'll see them:
