Dorothy's log cabin

Dorothy pieced this top to be given as a wedding gift for her grandson. There are fabulous fabrics in this - all pulled from the bright colored circles in the white backing/border fabric.    Finished size is 74 x 87.

Love the bright colors

There are daisies, dragonflies and leaves in that fabric, so we focused on that for the quilting theme.  I alternated a daisy and a dragonfly in the center of each log cabin block, then surrounded them with leaves.

The two outer borders are treated as one, with leaves alternating one side and the other.

Darlene's bow-ties

Darlene pieced this for her niece's graduation gift.   Size is 85 x 85.  I used white thread in both the top and bobbin.

I love the bright colors

I quilted loops in the white part, and line dancing in the bow-ties.

Cool daisies growing out of the border!

quilting in the black border
(oops - a bit of lint there)

the backing is pieced.  Would you believe that the white loops on the front ended up in exactly the same place in the left over bow ties on the back?  Perfectly aligned!!

quilting detail shows up well on the back.

QUILT OF VALOR

Di, our state QOV rep, pieced the blocks, Pam F put the top together, and I quilted it.  It will go back to Di for the binding, and donation thru the Quilt's of Valor program.  I used the same "olde golde" thread throughout the quilt. The pieced backing uses the two border fabrics.  Finished size is 75 x 72

This is a star block with sashing,

and a 9-patch block.  Quilted X's with wiggly lines

I quilted wiggly lines in the petals of each star,

and an 8-pointed star in the blue middle of each  9-patch

Summer Fun

This is a mystery that I ran for our guild this summer.  There were 5 clues beginning with yardage needed (March) and ending with the reveal. (July)  One clue was presented at each meeting for 5 months.   Finished size is 56 x 80.

It's a free block pattern called 4-patch ladder from the Quilter's Cache.  I used navy and black for my dark fabrics, scrappy brights for the medium, and I bought a white as a constant.  This was all from stash except for the white.

Blocks were set 4 x 6 with a pieced border that really carries the pattern to the edge.

I used a variegated thread in the bright colored sections doing squiggly lines

white straight lines thru the white

Navy zig zags thru the border sections.  The binding is leftover backing fabric from this quilt

the backing is a solid that I bought online for another quilt  but didn't like the color once it arrived.  So I found a good use for it here.

A charity quilt

"Mary" pieced this top then contacted our guild looking for someone to quilt it.  She wants to donate it to our "Comfort Quilts" program for children.  She will bind it then return it to me to get it donated.
I used a rainbow variegated thread on top, and a bright green on the bottom.  It's 55 x 62.

Love the bright colors in this quilt.

The perfect backing fabric - it will also be used for binding

QOV

Someone in our guild cut the strips for this jelly race quilt, and Pat put it all together so I could quilt it.  She is going to bind it in the same red fabric as the top and bottom borders.  It will be donated to the Quilts of Valor program.  I did a simple meander with some stars in a red/white/blue variegated thread.  Pat also made a presentation case for the quilt.  Finished quilt size is 57 x 72.
